The Support Services for Adults program is a day habilitation program that provides outcome-based services to adults who want a meaningful and productive day. The program is designed to build interest in and develop skills for active participation in volunteerism, social activities, and community involvement. The services are person-centered and driven by each individual’s needs and desired supports.
Admission Criteria
• At least 18 years old
• Diagnosis of a developmental or intellectual disability
• Referral from a DMH or DDRB Case Manager
• Free from ongoing severe maladaptive behaviors that are dangerous to self or others and/or infringe upon the rights of self or others and can’t be supported in a group setting
• Able to participate in an environment with non-medical personnel
• Able to benefit from participation in the program
Programs
Day Program:
• Full time: Monday through Friday – 6 hours per day
• Part-time: Minimum 2 days per week
• Transportation is not provided
• Medication administration is provided by qualified staff as needed. There is no direct medical staff on location.
• Productive activities are outcome-based and include volunteer jobs on-site and in the community.
• Outcome-based individualized goals may address; socialization, communication, self-care, work skills, community access, and therapy needs.
Before & After Care:
Before and After Care services are offered to parents/caregivers so they can maintain employment. Due to the limited availability of Before and After Care slots, this service is limited to families who require extended care hours because of their work schedules.
- Before Care Hours – starts as early as 7 am
- After Care Hours – ends as late as 6 pm
- This is a private pay service.
- This is not an outcome-based service
Volunteer Service Projects
The Day Program is always looking for new volunteer opportunities to complete in the community or at the center. We partner with the following organizations doing on and off-site volunteer work:
- Participating in Greener Games with the St. Louis Cardinals
- Cleaning and Organizing laundry for Marcy’s Project
- Filling Easter Eggs for area non-profits for annual Easter Egg Hunts
- Making Dog Treats for area animal shelters
- Delivering Smiley Face Cookies to local Schnucks Stores for Waigand Wheels
- Clipping and packaging coupons for military families through Troopons
- Cleaning and packaging eyeglasses for the Lions Club
