If you’re planning a visit to our administrative office, you might notice a new smile at the front desk! We recently welcomed Chris Harmon as our part-time receptionist.
Chris retired from the St. Louis County Special School District in 2019 after 25 years as a teacher’s aide. She stayed home for about six months before she decided she needed something fulfilling to do. She applied to join Community Living’s team and was hired as a Direct Support Professional in the Support Services for Adults program. She was part of the team at the Henry Clever Center. “I enjoyed learning each client and helping them to succeed in what they worked at,” she said about her time there.
Now she’s looking forward to a new adventure with new responsibilities in her new role. She says she’s also looking forward to meeting and working with more people involved with Community Living.
Outside of work, Chris and her husband have been traveling a lot. She keeps busy spending a lot of time with her daughter and her family. She has three adult grandchildren: Jack, Ethan and Isabella who is currently in her last year of high school. “We also have a daughter who is our angel in heaven,” Chris said. “She was severely disabled and had Rett Syndrome. She lived until she was 39 years old when she gained her angel wings.”
If you’re visiting the office, be sure to stop by and introduce yourself to Chris!
