As part of our strategic plan, we reorganized the structure of some of our programs this year. We combined the administration of our two recreation programs, Adult Recreation and Social Opportunities and Recreation (SOAR) into one and started searching for our new Director of Recreation Services.
Brittney Moss was selected for the role. She returns to Community Living after having previously served as a Direct Support Professional and Residential Manager for the organization. She said she’s kept up with Community Living since leaving and knew she needed to apply when she saw the opening. “I felt like it was the perfect role for me and the best opportunity to return to Community Living!” she said.
“I’m excited to be back with Community Living! The Rec Department is an amazing team that I am very grateful to be a part of.”
Brittney has her degree in psychology and is currently working toward her master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She has worked with people with disabilities for several years in many different capacities throughout her career, but says she loves the opportunities and relationships recreational programming provides.
In her new role, she’s most looking forward to seeing both programs grow. “There are great opportunities for interagency as well as community collaboration to provide fun and a sense of belonging to as many people as possible,” she said. “I’m excited to be back with Community Living! The Rec Department is an amazing team that I am very grateful to be a part of.”
In her free time, Brittney keeps busy doing outdoor activities, especially in the fall. She played college soccer and still loves the game. This year she’s coaching a team of 5-year-old girls named “Chicks with Kicks.” She’s a self-proclaimed “crazy dog mom” to her fur baby Teddy and visits family in Iowa and Northern Illinois as often as she can.
